An impressive mileage Financial Year 2013-2014
Board Icon for Rural Dedication(BIRD) has been rendering services for the uplift of less-fortunate s since 2009 with no any hype. In the previous financial year, we have realized that the demand of contemporary NGO sector is something special and stepped forward for breaking its nature of Voluntaryservices silently. Since the debuting moment of BIRD, our highly motivated and dedicated members were rendering their voluntary service. From the perspective of charity. Very few initiatives were there for the capacity building of disadvantaged students, youths and women. But this financial year, we have dived into the mainstream of development as per the needs and scopes of our locality.
Thus we have found that there is an enormous scope of work with the physically challenged persons by collecting data from our reliable sources (including the source of local Gram Panchayats) . we appealed to the local MLA with an extract of the data and showed the miseries of them. Honorable MLA has extended his benevolent support from his fund (BEUP). We have donated and distributed 100nos. of Tri Cycles to the physically challenged persons. There is a future plan to create an opportunity for supporting in their livelihoods. The programme was dedicated to 150th birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda and Dr.Muhammed Sahidullah.
Our volunteers planted trees under the premises of Haroa BPHC in presence of BMOH. Therefore they have participated in a Voluntary Work Camp by cleaning garbage and solid wastes of the BPHC.
On the observance of International Women s Day we have organized a seminar on Violations of Women s Right and Remedial Measure s. And the seminar was followed by a one day training program on Issues. Needs and Rights of Minority Women . Approximately 150 nos. of minority women have participated in the programs.
Now, BIRD works as a human rights promoting NGO. Rights-based issues are our first priority. For making public opinion and consulting with the local public representatives on the local rights-based issues, we have organized some programs in street-corners on World Human Rights Day.
Cultural programs are being conducted periodically in every year, such as-Annual Cultural program, Cultural Competitions etc for the promotion of performing arts and local artist.
Beside these , we have conducted various training programs for the students, teachers, youths and women viz. Youth Leadership and Personality Development Training Program, Gender Sensitive Development Training Program for the Minority Women, Soft Skills Training program, Basic Computer Training Programme for Backward Classes, Vocational Training Programs for the Minority Women. Awareness generation programs are also conducted where the needs raised, such as Mother and Child Health, Health and Hygiene of Adolescent girls, HIV/AIDS, Anti-Tobacco Campaigning, Communal Harmony as a peace-keeping initiative.
IDEAL ACADEMY, a kindergarten school has been running by BIRD in a minority concentrated pocket of Haroa development Block.
I acknowledge and express my heartfelt gratitude to the member of Governing body, patrons, local donors, officials of local administration representatives of PRIs, honorable MPs and MLAs and am concluding here with a humane appeal to all the well-wishers, governmental and non-governmental funding agencies- Please extend your generous hands for our noble mission .
